ROLE
The education secretary seeks to involve every church member in the support of Adventist schools. Particular emphasis is to be given to parents with children from birth through college. The education secretary should be a member of the Home and School executive board and should seek membership on the local school board. If you don't know where the most local GNYC SDA school is in your area, contact the Conference Office of Education at: (516) 467-5245.
Duties (paraphrased from the SDA Church Manual) include:
- Keeping (and updating) records of children in your local church.
- Surveying church members on SDA education.
- Promoting Christian education.
- Taking special care of the children of the newly baptised.
- Maintaining contact with the local church membership students attending schools away from home.
- Soliciting support for financial aid for parents with children in the church.
- Encouraging attendance in SDA schools.
