The subject of Christian education is of vital importance to our people in preparing young men and young women to be workers in the cause of present truth, and in the salvation of our children.
-H.W. Cottrell-
Chairman and first president of Greater New York Conference
Christian education began since Jesus Christ. The twelve apostles appointed by Jesus became His first students, witnesses, and teachers. They became the Christian educators whose mission is to fulfill the gospel of Christ throughout the world into centuries to come. Their gospel message and influence is why we exist today.
Fast-forward to 1902 in the city of New York, an assembly of men, women, and children gathered in hopes of establishing individual conferences of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. As a result, Greater New York Conference (GNYC) was formed. Elder Luther Warren was elected and appointed to serve as the first education secretary for Greater New York.
