cadavero.pngDavid A. Cadavero has a passion for Adventist education. He has a deep conviction that enrolling your child in a SDA school can be a life transforming experience. He is the only one of three children raised a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist. He is a graduate of Greater New York Academy, class of 1964. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Columbia Union College (now Washington Adventist University).  He then acquired a Masters from New School University. where he also completed extensive post-graduate work.

Not knowing where his life would take him, he depended on God for guidance. He feels the Holy Spirit convicted him to pursue a career in education. He began his educational ministry in 1968 at Greater New York Academy as a Guidance Counselor and served there for 17 years, the last 10 as principal. In 1985 the GNYC constituency voted him to be the superintendent of schools in which he served for three terms. He moved on to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and since November 11, 2005, back to GNYC. He served as superintendent of schools for 22 years. He considers GNYC “home.”

The 2007-08 school year marks his 39th year of service to the SDA church. He feels that being a SDA educator is not just a job, but a “calling.” He is married to Nadia Bekersky Cadavero (who also is a 1964 Greater New York Academy graduate). They are the proud parents of a daughter, Kristia, a senior financial analyst with Washington and Shady Grove Adventist hospitals. Their beloved son, Jonathan, was killed on February 27, 2007 (along with 3 other soldiers) by a roadside bomb in Iraq. He faithfully served as head medic for his platoon and received 9 different medals for service, including the Bronze star. On a personal note, David was born in Bronx, NY and is an avid NY Yankee fan. He jokingly tells his colleagues that “there is only one team in NYC—and their place of residence is Yankee stadium.”
